British International Removals is continuously exploring new types of packing materials with the view of improving the quality of the export packing. The materials used are paramount to the protection of your household goods. Unlike a local move, with international removals the consignment is handled by various parties, such as customs, railways, port authorities and shipping lines and therefore the quality of the packing is very important.

The following are some of the packing materials used:

Boxes

  HEIGHT WIDTH DEPTH
Stock 5 300mm 450mm 300mm
Stock 7 500mm 450mm 450mm

The smaller boxes are generally used for heavier items such as books, crockery etc in order to reduce the weight of the individual box. The larger boxes are used for larger and lighter items, such as linen, lampshades etc. British International Removals only makes use of 'Double-wall' boxes in order to give the boxes sufficient strength and support.

Tuff wrap
This material is essentially bubble-wrap reinforced with a layer of brown paper on the one side and an extra layer of plastic laminated to the other side. This material is used for wrapping items such as dining room tables, lounge suites, TV's etc. It is extremely resilient and is also able to absorb excess moisture into the layer of paper.

Bubble wrap
The bubble wrap used is sourced from only one manufacturer as being best suited for the industry and of best quality. This material is used to wrap large items that do not require a material as hardy as tuff wrap.

Newsprint
The newsprint used is virgin, meaning it is white and without any print thereon. The reason for this is that printed newspaper releases the print ink and may leave marks on the articles being wrapped. This material is used to wrap crockery, ornaments, etc and also used as filler in boxes, if necessary.

Flat sheets
This material is simply flat sheets of cardboard and is used for the bases of fridges, protection for TV screens and picture frames, etc

Corners
This material is made of foam sponge and is used to protect the corners and edges of pictures, dining room tables and other such delicate items.

Crating
Delicate items such as pianos, grandfather clocks, mirrors, pictures, glass and marble tops etc are crated to provide additional protection.
